This crater is considered the 2nd largest in the world (ellipsoidal shape with approximately 7.2 kms x 9.3 kms axis dimensions). This is also one of the most impressive examples of the volcanic activity in the Islands. Down at the bottom of the crater we can observe a fresh lava flow of the last eruption of this volcano occurred in 2005. Continuing our walk for about 1 hour more, we will arrive to one of the farms where we will be able to go down for a hike into the lava tunnel. At the end of the adventure and emerging from the tunnel we will meet our transport which will take us to a nice farm where we will enjoy lunch surrounded by a nice lush forest. After lunch we will be transported back to your hotel in Puerto Ayora and after a short rest we will walk for about 1 hour to the place known as Tortuga Bay, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galapagos. The long beach is composed of fine white sand and is backed by an extensive area of sand dunes. Here we will enjoy a protected beach where we can observe a marine iguana colony and several marine birds such as pelicans, finches, seagulls, etc.).
