Day 1: Lima arrival.

Arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima

Morning ½ day city tour in Lima visiting the pre-Columbian Huaca Pucllana ruins, the colonial part of Lima with its Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, and San Francisco Church, and the modern part of Lima: Miraflores, San Isidro and the Larco Mar with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. B.

Day 3: Lima – Huaraz.

Using a comfortable public bus (or 45 minutes flight with small planes – at extra cost) early departure towards Huaraz, the "alpine" town located at the foothills of the famous Cordillera Blanca. Hotel accommodation.

Day 4: Huaraz – Llanganuco – Huaraz.

Acclimatization day. We will make a day trip to the Llanganuco Lakes for a day hike while enjoying great views of Mount Huascaran, Chacraraju, Huandoy and other beautiful surrounding mountains. Stay overnight in a comfortable hotel in Huaraz. (B).

Day 5: Huaraz – Chiquian – Mahuay camp.

Transport to the town of Chiquian (3300m) and then to the small town of Q´ero, the starting point for our trekking. From Chiquian we already can see the magnificent peaks of the range. The first day trek will take us approximately 4-5 hours walk to get to the small village of Mahuay (3750m / 12300ft). (B, L, D).

Day 6: Mahuay - Matacancha camp.

After crossing 2 high passes over 4700m (Milacancha and Hurao passes) and enjoying the first serious views of the magnificent Huayhuash range we will descend to our camp at Matacancha at 4100m. This will be a long, 8-9 hours trekking day (the longest day during the whole trip). (B, L, D).

Day 7: Matacancha – Mitucocha.

The day starts with a beautiful and exciting high pass on Caccanampunta at 4750m. Then we descend to our camp at the shores of the beautiful Mitucocha Lake at 4100m. Enjoy great views of mounts Ninashanca, Rondoy and Jirishanca. (B, L, D).

Day 8: Mitucocha - Carhuacocha.

Today we will head along the impressive Carhuac high pass at 4600m with amazing views of the spectacular glaciers of mounts Jirishanca and Pequeño Jerupaja. Descend to our camp at the spectacular Carhuacocha Lake with impressive views of the east sides of mounts Jerupaja and Siula Grande. Camp at 4100m. (B, L, D).

Day 9: Carhuacocha – Huayhuash.

This day also starts with the trek climbing up to the 4850m Carnicero pass then we descent to the small settlement of Huayhuash. Great views of mounts Carnicero, Sarapo and Trapecio. Camp at 4150m. (B, L, D).

Day 10: Huayhuash - Viconga Lake.

The day begins with a climb to Portachuelo de Huayhuash pass at 4600m/15088ft. From here, we descend to Laguna Viconga enjoying wonderful views of the Cordillera Raura. Camp at the hot water springs (4150m). (B, L, D).

Day 11: Resting day.

Enjoy the surroundings, the hot water springs and the view of the surrounding beautiful snowcapped mountains. Camp. (B, L, D).

Day 12: Viconga camp – Guanacpatay Camp.

The day starts early morning heading up to the highest pass of the entire loop: the spectacular Cuyuc pass at 5050m. We will enjoy excellent views of the Puscanturpa massif. Then we will descend down to the Guanacpatay gorge until we reach our camp. Camp at 3900m/12792ft. (B, L, D).

Day 13: Guanacpatay Camp – Huayllapa Village.

This day we will start trekking down the Guanacpatay valley until we reach the pass leading us to the impressive Huayllapa gorge. This trek follows a mountainside with beautiful flowers and waterfalls and then finally we will reach the small village of Huayllapa. This will be a short (4 hours) hiking day so in the village we will have time to rest and look around meeting the locals and visiting the small colorful town. B, LB, D.

Day 14. Huayllapa – Huatyaj Camp.

The day starts with a hearty breakfast and then we will head up to the pass at Tapush (4800m). After reaching this pass we will start our descend to our next camp at the place known as Huatyaj at 4100m (13448ft) on the Cashapampa valley. Great views of Mount Diablo Mudo, and other surrounding beautiful mountains. (B, LB, D).

Day 15: Huatyaj camp - Laguna Jaguacocha Camp.

This day starts with a climb to the last high last pass of the trek (Yauche pass at 4600m/15088). From here, the path descends steeply to the beautiful Laguna Jaguacocha. Camp at 4050m/13,284ft). This is one of the most beautiful spots of the entire trip with great views of mounts Rondoy, Jirishanca, Yerupaja, and Rasak. (B, L, D).

Day 16: Jahuacocha – Llamac – Chiquian - Huaraz.

Our last trekking day (4 hours) will take us to the small town of Llamac (2900m/9512ft). We follow the shores of the Llamac River until we reach the small village from where our private transport take us back to the town of Chiquian, and then to the city of Huaraz. Hotel accommodations. (B).

Day 17: Huaraz – Lima.

Transfer to the bus station and comfortable public bus transport to Lima. Hotel. (B).

Day 18: Transfer out.

Transfer to the airport and flight back home. (B).
