AAPJFD04  Iquitos Amazon Rainforest Lodge             4D/3N


Day 1: Lima – Iquitos - Jungle lodge
Arrival and reception at the Iquitos International Airport. Transfer to the Port of Bellavista Nanay, where we will board a speed boat to the Lodge via the Amazon River. During this ride we will be able to observe the convergence of the brown turbid Amazon River with the dark waters of the Nanay River. We will enjoy the impressive jungle landscape and the rustic small houses of the riverside towns. After arriving in the lodge a complimentary jungle drink will be served. Lunch. In the afternoon we will start a jungle hike into the Yanamono Reserve a primary rainforest reserve. Our expert Indian guides will identify various botanical species such as the Heliconia plant, medicinal plants and giant trees such as the White silk-cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra) whose dimensions are so large that 25 persons can circle the giant tree. During this time we will also see various birds such as the Turkey Vulture (Cathartes Aura), Black Fronted Nanbird (Monasa-Atia), etc., and with a little luck we will be able to see small monkeys such as marmosets (sanguineous fusicollis) , and the Titi Monkey (Callicebus Mollock) and the Frailes Monkey (Saimiri Boliviense). Return to the lodge and rest. After observing the Amazonia Sunset, we will take a night boat ride to the Manco Gulch, if the river is high enough, or along the Amazon River where we will enjoy the magical sounds of the jungle and the light of the moon. Or, if it’s a clear night, we can observe the constellations. Dinner and overnight in the Lodge. L, D.

Day 2: Jungle Tour full day
Early bird watching. We will start off very early and go by boat Cáceres Gulch or a similar gulch (if it's high water). We will be looking out for birds such as the Tuki (Jacana Jacana), Ringed Kingfisher (Ceryle-Torquata), Black-Collared Hawk (Busarellus nigricollis), etc. We will also be able to see the very impressive giant Victoria Regia (Giant Water Lily) located inside the lakes that are on Yanamono Island (if the water level permits). Return to the lodge and breakfast. After a brief rest, we will visit a Yagua village where we will have an opportunity to learn about their way of life. On the return trip to the lodge we will stop by a sugar cane still where we will have a chance to taste the different drinks they make with the sugar cane rum. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will take a small fishing trip into small tributaries of the Amazon River. During this time we can also have the opportunity to look out for the Pink Amazon River Dolphin (Inia Geoffrensis), they can be very shy. Return to the lodge for dinner. At night we can take a hike around the perimeter of the Lodge to look for tarantulas, fire flees bats and other jungle nocturnal creatures. (B, L, D).

Day 3: Jungle Tour Full day
Breakfast. Full day in a riverside town; where we'll be able to see their unique way of life. Return to the Lodge and rest. In the afternoon, we will take a trip to the "Tahuampas" (flooded jungle) by canoes for an hour where we will enjoy the marvelous landscape of the jungle. Dinner and overnight stay in the Lodge. Day 4: Jungle lodge – Iquitos - Lima
Breakfast followed by navigation to Iquitos and transfer to the airport. Flight to Lima. (B). 

 Gross Rates per Person: US$450.- 

• Includes: Transport + English speaking guide + Boat services + Lodge + Noted meals. 

 Not included: flights, airport taxes, extras, beverages, personal travel insurance.
